  • Unrivaled Protein: Chocho boasts the highest protein content of any known plant on earth.
  • Whole-Food Purity: Unlike protein isolates that rely on heavy processing and chemical extraction, Chocho is a minimally processed whole food that retains its natural integrity.
  • Nutrient Density: Packed with fiber, vitamins, minerals, polyphenols, and antioxidants for whole-body nourishment.
  • Wide Dietary Appeal: Naturally gluten-free, lectin-free, keto-friendly, low-glycemic, plant-based, diabetic-friendly, and Non-GMO.

Why Chocho Is Ideal for Meat-Eaters

You don’t need to be plant-based to benefit from Chocho.  Chocho fills important nutritional gaps that animal proteins can’t—like prebiotic fiber for gut health, polyphenols and antioxidants for cellular repair, and essential micronutrients for energy and recovery. Because it’s a whole-food protein (not an isolate), your body absorbs and utilizes the nutrients in a balanced, natural way. It’s the perfect complement to an omnivore diet—supporting digestion, immunity, and overall well-being while still delivering complete, bioavailable protein.

From My Roots To Your Kitchen

On a recent trip to my native Peru, I rediscovered a remarkable superfood that’s been part of my culture for centuries: Chocho, aka The Peruvian Lupin. We were blown away by its unmatched purity and nutritional benefits and knew we had to bring it to the U.S to share with you.

We believe in Chocho so deeply that we’ve invested directly in the indigenous communities that produce it. Chef’s Kiss is now the exclusive importer and seller of the first and only certified USDA organic Chocho in North America—so when you enjoy it, you’re tasting something truly rare and extraordinary, sourced with care from the same Andean highlands my ancestors once called home.

There’s truly nothing else like Chocho. It’s a gift from nature and my heritage that I’m proud to share with you.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between Isolates and Whole Food Proteins?

Protein isolates (like pea, rice, soy, etc) are highly processed powders that strip away most of the food’s natural fiber, micronutrients, and phytonutrients—leaving mostly pure protein. Whole-food proteins like Chocho deliver protein in its natural form, along with fiber, minerals, and antioxidants that work together for better digestion, sustained energy. Choosing whole-food protein means nourishing your body more completely, not just hitting a number on the label.

Can I bake with Chocho or use it as an alternative to lupin flour?

Definitely! Chocho can be swapped 1:1 for lupin flour in any recipe or use it as a 20-50% replacement for gluten free flours.  Its whole-food composition gives it natural binding and moisture-retaining qualities that isolates can’t match, making it the ultimate high-protein flour alternative.

How does chocho taste?

Chocho has a mild, slightly nutty flavor that blends effortlessly into both sweet and savory dishes. It’s smooth and clean—not chalky or earthy like many plant proteins—making it perfect for smoothies, baking, and everyday cooking.

I’m not Plant-Based, Is Chocho for me?

Absolutely!  You don’t have to be plant-based to love Chocho. It complements any diet with complete protein plus fiber, antioxidants, and minerals that most animal proteins lack.  We personally like to mix it with a whey or beef protein in shakes to create a delicious omnivore delight that blends the best of both plant and animal proteins.

Is Chocho an allergen?

Chocho is the Peruvian straight of Lupin.  The FDA does not require Lupins to be listed as a top 8 allergen. However, Lupins are a legume related to peanuts. People with peanut allergies are at a higher risk of allergic reactions to Lupin. Although not everyone with a peanut allergy will react to Lupins, studies show that cross-reactivity can occur.

Is Chocho good for gut health?

Yes!. Chocho is rich in prebiotic fiber and naturally low in lectins and anti-nutrients—making it gentle on your gut and great for digestion. It’s a whole-food protein your gut can actually absorb and thrive on.

Is Chocho third party tested?

Yes!  We test our Chocho for heavy metals and do microbiological testing.
